Easter cards

I need to make a few Easter cards so I have just made a couple this morning...

The first - I had another go with the double easel fold - see the dimensions I used on the last card
This time I have let the two images sit on a slant rather than at 90 degrees.

The images I have used are freebies from Ike's World Challenges, printed on yellow and
with a touch of colour using Promarkers.
The 'washi' I picked up in the supermarket yesterday and I printed Happy Easter on my computer.

I will link this to Ikes World Challenge #34

The second card I made this morning uses Meljen's Lucky Duck, coloured in 'Easter' colours
with Promarkers.

I added more of the 'washi' tape and a few gems.

Happy Easter!

Quick morning make

I like to enter the Wicked Wednesday ATC challenge each week

and last week I was picked as a winner!!

Now I am very pleased to have some new images from

I will play with them soon!!

Anyway this week the theme is cherry blossom.

I have been an expat for the last 17 years and it has been rare that I've been in England at this time of year - this year I am really enjoying the snowdrops, the daffodils, the blossom...
Suddenly the roads are lined with beautiful blossom covered trees!

For my ATC I started with a 2.5 x 3.5 in. rectangle of red card
matted with a background I made myself - and I think gives the impression of blossom!

This background was made by smearing distress ink (TH worn lipstick) on an acrylic block and then dripping alcohol blending solution on it.
The result was then picked up with some appropriate card.

My plan was to overstamp with this Chinese cherry blossom stamp...

But can I find it? (This is a part made tag lying on my table!)

So plan B - I used a digi from Kris B's Pretty Peacocks

This I coloured with Promarkers, to give the impression of cherry blossom.

Finally I added the flower embellishments from my stash...

I will link this to Wicked Wednesday Challenge #151

Crafting From the Heart New Challenge

A new challenge starts today at Crafting From the Heart

always Anything Goes!

Our sponsor this time is Dr Digi

I decided to use Ambrose Dunderton
and once more have a go at those Double Easel Cards.

I saw the tutorial here but I adapted it a little...

The basic shape of the base from the tutorial is like this:

But I made mine like this - based on rectangles rather than squares.
The image is ATC sized so my card is quite small.

I started with a rectangle 5 inches across by 6.5 inches long. I scored across at 3 inches up and cut down the middle of the upper rectangle making two rectangles 2.5 by 3.5 inches.
I scored the diagonals of these to fold down two triangles.
I made 3.5 inch squares to attach to these triangles.

By now you have seen the embellishments - each piece was matted with paper from my stash.
The image was coloured with Promarkers and distressed with antique linen.
I then added some 'gardening'stickers which have been in my drawer for years - originally from Kinokuniya - a huge bookshop in Dubai.

This is what the card looks like from the back and above -

FREAKY FREEBIE - Smeared and Smudged - March 2015

I've just made some ATC's using the March Freebie from Smeared and Smudged.

I received the Toxic Ballerina image as a freebie but it is available on sale from here

I started with 2.5 by 3.5 in rectangles of dark red card matted with rectangles from Smeared ink paper collection Madame Butterfly
Isn't it gorgeous? Each rectangle has a butterfly in the corner...

I added the images, coloured with Promamrkers.

Finally to each ATC I added a stick pin in one corner and a button with twine in another.

This is my make for the Smeared and Smudged Challenge -

Imagine That Digi of the Month Progressive Challenge

The set above was given courtesy of the Progressive Challenge at Imagine That!

I decided to print out the sentiment and the two peacocks pre-coloured...
then what to do with them?

Recently I noticed a tutorial for a double easel card -
I thought that would make a change - so here's my first attempt at one!

I used different blue cards to mat the images and sentiment, and make the base.

I added webby ribbon along the front and a waterfall of ribbon flowers from my stash...

Not sure about the double easel card - will have another go later...

LOC Challenge #71

Today another challenge starts at Left of Center

The theme is Mermaids/Water themed so I thought this would be
a perfect occasion to add to my fantasy fat book.
You might remember the page I showed you the other day...using a Simply B stamp?

Today we are sponsored by Nikki Burnette

And I used Giselle - a lovely mermaid...

I started this fat page by covering the chipboard with paper from Joy Crafts Under the Sea Paper bloc
and adding Imagination Crafts Jade Sea Detail Sparkle around the edges.

Next a sentiment printed on my computer and some swirly board..

I added a retro frame cut from the paper bloc (polka dots) and more Detail Sparkle.

Finally Giselle coloured with Promarkers and a couple of dragonflies printed on vellum.

I will link this to
Anything but a card Mini Challenge - mini book - although this is a work in progress!

Hope you will join us at LOC

Meljens Closing Down

When I saw that the Meljens was closing down

I decided I had to enter the final challenges.

I bought this Dapper frog image in the Closing Down Sale

The Challenge is a Recipe: 1 - 2 - 3:
One image, two papers, 3 embellishments.

I have been making 'Alice' ATCs and I thought this image COULD be the mad hatter so I decided to make some ATCs...

Firstly two papers from my stash, each matted onto some backing card...

Next the image coloured with Spectrum Noir markers and cut out...

Finally 3 embellishments - a rose, a heart and a pair of googly eyes!

I didn't just make one...

I will link my ATCs to the Meljens Challenge #252.

Happy Crafting!
